Srinagar, Dec 10 (KNO): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Saturday said militancy in Jammu and Kashmir is declining with each passing day as a result of the “proactive approach” of security forces against them. He also said that “each and every conspiracy of the neighboring country” to spoil the peaceful environment in J&K is being foiled by the security forces here. Speaking to reporters in the Jammu region, the DGP, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that security forces are counseling the youth across J&K to make them aware that the agencies from across the border are trying to disrupt peace and harmony here by spoiling the blood for the last 30 years; and that it is high time to understand and shun this path. “With the cooperation of the local people and the proactive approach of security forces, the graph of militancy is declining with each passing day and the remaining will be wiped out soon,” he said. The DGP said that in the Jammu region, militant activities were being carried out through suicide attacks and other activities. “The efforts are on to wipe out militancy in Jammu and the region will be militancy-free soon,” he said. “At some places, militant modules and cells are being activated to maintain their activities but our security grid and agencies are diligent and every day new modules and conspiracies are coming to the fore, which are being busted by the security forces.” “Every day, we continue to make efforts to thwart their plans and conspiracies through a thorough and formal plan of action,” the J&K police chief said. “In some cases, modules are being reactivated but they are also being exposed.”—(KNO)
